Hello my fellow climbers, welcome to Kamloops Climbing. Here my mission is to create a one-stop-shop for anything and everything in the Thompson-Nicola region. As Kamloops is located in central British Columbia I feel inclined to also include brief overviews of the climbing hubs in the surrounding areas.

Not only will you be able to find information on all the local climbing areas but I will also be including comments and suggestions from some of Kamloops’ Climbing veterans and professionals. By speaking with these people I will be bring you content on what makes an ideal climber, how to introduce yourself to the sport, and gear recommendations and updates. I personally believe the best way to become well rounded and familiar with anything one must get there information from a variety of resources, as not to be biased, and formulate your own opinions on what works best for you based on this information.

Progress is subjective and depends on your goals. I am here to help you decide what your goals are, and show you ways to achieve them. I hope you all enjoy the content i have to offer you, ranging from written article and recorded interviews, to videos and maps of our wonderful areas.

Enjoy exploring this website and our enigmatic scenes.

Is it a bad weather day, or are you just tired from hard work and hot weather? This post by a British Columbian travel blogger, Casandra Karpiak, outlines many activities indoor and outdoor to keep you busy and enjoying our gorgeous city, as well she provides places to stay if you are still planning your trip. She outlines spots to eat, wineries and breweries to visit, and nature parks all from a local perspective. As a local myself, I can say that this list contains some of my favorite places such as the Kamloops Wildlife park, Bright eye brewing, and Hello Toast. If your unsure of how to spend your non-climb time you are sure to find something in this post.

We as climbers place a lot of pressure on ourselves and our progress, it is easy to get swept up in the competition of the sport. While we all want to climb hard and be the best it is important to remember that progress comes with time and commitment. In her article, Want To Build Climbing Skills? Quit Maxing Out Every Training Session, Hilary Oliver outlines the physical/mental positives/negatives these habits can have on your progress and self image. She outlines how to identify these behaviors and how to make positive lasting changes. Give it a read and see if your doing this yourself, or for a greater understanding of how mindset can effect performance.
